Two years ago, developers, investors and hoteliers in the Central and Eastern European region saw strong potential for hotel development and investment, based on growing tourism and occupancy rates above 80%. Since then, tourism and international travel have been hit by the Crown virus, and now by the war in Ukraine, as well as rising inflation, the prospect of rising interest rates and ESG expectations. This was the backdrop to HOTCO 2022.
The annual Hotel Investment Conference for CEE & Caucasus attracted over 300 delegates from more than 30 countries to the Kempinski Hotel Budapest on 30-31 May, for the first time since January 2020 after the COVID-imposed break.
