Ida Kiss, DVM group design director, sees ESG certification, which has received widespread attention, as a key driver for the future, and believes that sustainability issues will have a significant impact on real estate development. “However, the system still lacks some clear benchmarks and can be used creatively. Green building certification can be incorporated into the ESG rating system and reported as part of an efficient building stock, contributing to improved carbon performance,” he notes. “Sustainability certification has become an essential element of any commercial real estate development. However, the actual environmental performance and energy efficiency of a building cannot be clearly linked to the building’s rating level, as costs strongly influence the choice of technical solutions,” he adds.
