BIF Tower

The 16 floor building has been renovated as a premium class A office building, which welcomes its guests and new tenants with a sunny and elegant lobby, a café, an 80-space garage and a surface parking lot, an important amenity.

A large-scale real estate development of the vacant area bordered by Üllői út – Ceglédi utca – Zágrábi utca, now owned by BIF Zrt., was carried out between 1965-1969 on behalf of the Hungarian Post (MP), based on the 1964 plans of Ybl Prize-winning architect László Kelemen (UVATERV). In addition to the monolithic structures (staircase core on the Üllői út side; gable walls, foundations, etc.), the building was typically constructed using a prefabricated construction method.

The demolition and refurbishment of the Post Office Building – now known as the BIF Tower – originally built as a workers’ residence for postmen, started in mid-summer 2021 and after more than a year and a half of construction, the building was handed over to the client in February 2023.

After the demolitions, it became necessary to rethink the functions of the building and the design of the floors. Compared to the previous plans, the technical content was significantly extended: a new supply system was installed for the entire area, the building was equipped with completely new connections and networks (water, sewerage, heating and cooling, ventilation), fire protection systems were installed to protect the building and its occupants, new sprinkler tanks and a mechanical room with a pressurised staircase.

All this was necessary to create an office building with a modern design and cost-effective operation that met the client’s requirements. The 16 floor building has been renovated as a premium class A office building, which welcomes its guests and new tenants with a sunny and elegant lobby, a café, an 80-space garage and a surface parking lot, an important amenity.
