One of the prides of DVM group’s integrated construction and architectural services is the new headquarters of British Petrol (bp), which won the “Sustainable Office of the Year” award in 2020 thanks to its environmentally conscious design and interior architecture. In the same year, DVM group won both “Contractor of the Year” and “Interior Designer of the Year”. For bp, the architects and interior designers envisioned a global business service centre that would be both homey and international.

It was important to ensure that employees, who come from diverse cultural backgrounds, felt comfortable in the spaces created for them, and that diversity and community were also present as a connecting link. This approach has been complemented by the company’s modernisation and sustainability goals, which are delivered through spacious office spaces, multifunctional communal areas and meeting rooms designed for individual or teamwork retreats. Clients have requested brand reinforcement in both the guest spaces and the office areas used by staff by incorporating branding elements. The use of natural materials and colours was also a key task.

The result is a clean, people-oriented and comfortable office building dominated by natural earth tones and various shades of green, with lots of living green surfaces, large glass windows and, where possible, natural light and moisture. The office building is an outstanding combination of functional elegance and complex solutions that can be applied to the Group’s offices in other countries.

The bp’s Budapest trade centre will provide efficient working conditions and comfort for 1800 employees on 8 floors. The bp has also placed a strong emphasis on interior design, which is based on DVM’s bespoke service Discovery – Workplace Strategy. Discovery is a specialised workplace research that maps available spaces, gathers expectations through in-depth interviews with managers and employees, and “translates” them into interior design implementation using a unique methodology. The survey is also a purposeful brand strategy, where, for example, employee traffic lines are explored in order to ensure that the office spaces created offer not only a design experience but also a functional experience for employees, visitors, guests and partners.
