Eiffel Palace

The wonderful turn-of-the-century atmosphere of the building is in harmony with the modern and environmentally conscious contemporary design. The balance of style and functionality is achieved in a value-creating way, which has earned the building LEED Gold and BEEAM Very Good sustainability certifications, drawing attention to the building’s economical running costs.

The Eiffel Palace, originally opened in 1893, was home to the Pesti Hírlap and the Légrády/Zrínyi printing house. The building was reopened in 2013, after a complete renovation of the monument, taking into account urbanistic and sustainability aspects. It has been chosen as a commercial centre by prestigious tenants such as Apple, the British Chamber of Commerce in Hungary, MNB, CBRE, Genesys and PwC Hungary. It is also home to the Eiffel Bistro, St’Andrea Restaurant, Eiffel Esthetics, Wax in the City studio and its own conference centre, which can accommodate up to 400 people.

The building’s lobby area, true to Gustav Eiffel’s ambitions, will enchant visitors and tenants alike: the original pillars, restored to their original state, will lead the eye straight up to the building’s glass and steel roof structure, while a vast living wall of greenery – around 100 square metres – will complete the spectacle.

As the building is a UNESCO World Heritage site, the restoration of the original structure and style was a given. During the renovation, underground parking levels were added up to 5 storeys below ground level. Glass, steel and cast iron dominate the building. This is complemented by white marble, creating light, bright, transparent spaces. The structure suggests both airiness and stability. The original wall majolica has also been renewed, with Persian ornamentation running around it, which adds to the complex interior scene on the second floor level, which is still visually accessible.

The ceilings on each floor are over 3 metres high, ensuring a sense of spaciousness even for a large workforce. The building as a whole is characterised by premium, high quality construction and use of materials, reliability of the technical equipment installed, which makes operation predictable and cost-effective for tenants without compromises. The Eiffel Palace has won a number of prestigious international awards for its construction, architectural design and attention to historic preservation.
