The best ingredients for the winning workplace of the future.

Dutcham recently organized an interactive workshop in collaboration with the renowned Hungarian architect firm DVM group and their Dutch partner, Ditt Officemakers to discuss how the increasing agile working methods and the expanding ESG regulations can foster a more sustainable way of living. Both firms, being members of Studio Alliance, an umbrella organization bringing together Europe’s leading workplace experts, benefit from the local market knowledge combined with the experience of working in over 5,000 buildings throughout 26 countries. 

Several studies confirm that culture, creativity, and innovation still need in-person interaction; therefore, the office must support collaboration and connection for long-lasting, memorable experiences.
At the same time, it also raises practical questions, such as: 

How fast can your office adapt to the rapidly changing way of working?
What are the major triggers behind future office space trends?
Are the post-Covid reactions still valid?
How can ESG be a long-term profitable activity that is a source of competitive advantage?
How psychoeducation empowers mentally and financially stable companies? 

WHO data shows that 15% of working-age adults were estimated to have a mental disorder in 2019 and globally, 1 in 6 people experience mental health problems in the workplace, an estimated 12 billion working days are lost every year to depression and anxiety at a cost of US$ 1 trillion per year in lost productivity. 

It also confirms that happy employees are 13% more productive and companies have various tools to support them, like offering flexible work systems, establishing empathetic leadership, learn how to address trauma and support diversity of all kinds. 

A recent online survey conducted by profession.hu on a sample of a thousand Hungarian employees aged between 18 and 65, shows that 9% of the employees in Hungary have the flexibility to choose working mostly from home, with physical presence required on certain days.
But what is the added value of going to the office, other than sitting by the laptop like you do at home? 

The event hosted by Ida Kiss, Design Director and Kata Nett, Workplace Consultant of DVM group’s Discovery Team provided a unique opportunity to find the answers to all these challenges and discuss solutions from various aspects. 

The interactive session by Jos Broekman, creative director and Mattijs Kaak, founder of Ditt Officemakers took the audience on an informative and interactive journey to discover the past, present and future of workplaces.
What would you like to highlight? 

The subsequent stage interviews moderated by József Martinkó, chief editor, Octogon architecture&design examined the various angles and best practices of creating supportive and creative spaces. 

Kristóf Horváth, Manager, ESG&Sustainability Advisory, KPMG talked about the importance and relevance of ESG in the light of the regulatory requirements and customer and financing expectations. He stressed that ESG is not only a liability, but a long-term profitable activity that is a source of competitive advantage for leading companies. 

Dorota Zablocka, Head of Global Business Services EMEA, Randstad Sourceright explained their approach called ‘Flexibility with Intentionality’: How Randstad Sourceright Hungary (GBS EMEA) has implemented its new hybrid culture of work that creates an inclusive and engaging work environment for all of its employees 

Last, but not least, Zsófia Logemann-Molnár, Clinical-and Health Psychologist, MINDER talked about the successful adaptation to turbulent changes: psychoeducation empowers mentally and financially stable companies.
In the last few years our nervous system has been challenged with a tremendous amount of stimulation and information. Zsófia shed some light about the latest cutting edge research and provided some easy to implement tips. 

Conscious leadership, supportive working environment and open communication help build powerful teams that are more resilient to external threats resulting in happier, more proactive employees that can live their lives to the fullest.
